Question 1 of 15
When someone on your team, or someone you lead or influence, isn't meeting expectations, what do you actually do?
I hint at it or stay general. I don't address it directly.
I say something, but I soften it so much the message may get lost.
I address it clearly, though I don't always follow through consistently.
I name the behavior, the impact, and what I need, and I follow up.
Question 2 of 15
Is there a convo you've been sitting on for more than two weeks, think something that needs to be said but hasn't been?
Yes, more than one. I'm avoiding it!
There's one I keep pushing back but I have a reason every time
Not right now. I address things pretty quickly.
No. I don't let things sit.
Question 3 of 15
After a hard conversation or issue — do you follow up, or do you say it once and consider it done?
I say it and move on...they're adults.
I mean to follow up but it doesn't consistently happen. Life gets in the way.
Usually. I close the loop most of the time even if it's not always formal.
Always. The conversation isn't done when I leave the room. I inspect what I expect.
Question 4 of 15
How does your week actually run? Think rhythms, priorities, decisions. etc. What's driving it?
My energy and memory, mostly. There's no real system but I keep things moving
Some structure, but it shifts depending on how the week feels. It's not consistent
I utilize my system most weeks. It's not perfect but it works!
My systems are well tested and used consistently.
Question 5 of 15
Even on your wildest days, there's usually a sliver of time and attention you actually control. What do you do with it?
I honestly don't think about it that way. My day happens to me and I manage what comes.
I see it sometimes but it gets swallowed before I use it.
I'm aware of it and I use it most of the time, even if not perfectly.
I protect it deliberately. Even in a chaotic day I find the traction... the thing that actually moves something forward, not just motion
Question 6 of 15
Do you have a method for how you approach admin or make decisions? i.e. batching emails, writing out pros/cons, calendar blocking, etc.
Eh, not something written down or consistent.
Some things are consistent but a lot is still improvised. No real system behind it.
I have a way I do most things and am intentional with it.
I live by systems and methods to manage the chaos of work.
Question 7 of 15
Where are you honestly with AI in your leadership work right now?
I haven't started. It's not part of how I work yet.
I try it occasionally but there's no system. Every time feels like starting over.
I use it fairly regularly. A few go-to use cases, though not fully consistent
It's built into how I prepare, communicate, and plan. A real tool, not an experiment.
Question 8 of 15
There are things AI can do faster and more consistently than any human: drafting, summarizing, preparing, organizing. How much of that are you actually using it for?
None of it yet. I'm doing all of that manually.
A little, but I haven't built anything reusable. It's not systematic.
Some. I've found a few things that work but there's more I haven't touched.
Most of it. AI handles the repeatable work so I can focus on what requires judgment
Question 9 of 15
When you use any tool or resource to help you produce a message, plan, or document, do you trust and verify before it goes out, or does it go out faster than it should?
Faster than it should, honestly. If it looks good I send it.
Sometimes I verify, sometimes I don't. Depends on time.
Usually. I review and adjust before anything goes to real people.
Always. Trust and verify isn't optional for me since my name is on it.
Question 10 of 15
Are you deliberately investing in your own growth as a leader right now ... or has that quietly moved to the back burner?
Back burner. I'm so focused on the current tasks. My investment in myself has been minimal.
I consume content here and there but it's passive. I haven't gotten to the point where I am implementing something new I have learned.
I'm investing when I can and continuing to grow as a leader.
Yes, and I am being very intentional. deliberately. I value growth and investing in myself.
Question 11 of 15
Do you build relationships before you need them? Or is your network mostly people you reach out to when something's wrong?
Mostly reactive. I don't really have a network that I have intentionally built.
I have relationships but I'm not building new ones. I maintain what I have and that's it.
I'm reasonably proactive. Not perfect but I know the importance of a community.
Deliberately. I build relationships and constantly try to develop meaningful connections.
Question 12 of 15
Is there someone you are actively developing right now? Are you investing in their growth, not just managing their performance?
Not intentionally.
Sort of! I'd like to be more consistent.
Yes, at least one person. I'm investing in their growth with some intention behind it.
Yes. Developing people is part of my rhythm.
Question 13 of 15
Based on your answers, where do you feel your biggest gap is AND that you want to address right now?
How I handle hard conversations, accountability, and follow-through with people.
My personal systems, rhythms, and methods for how I actually operate day to day.
How I'm using... or not using... AI and technology in my leadership work
How I'm investing in my own growth and the relationships that move me forward.
Question 14 of 15
Honestly, are you leading from margin right now, or from fumes?
Fumes. Running on empty most weeks. Nothing left for thinking or planning.
Stretched. I get a breath occasionally but can't protect it.
Functional. Some margin most weeks even if it gets squeezed
Margin. I protect thinking and recovery time. It matters.
Question 15 of 15
Do you currently have formal or informal authority over how people on your team or project perform and develop?
Yes, I manage people formally
I lead or influence others without formal authority.
No, I'm an individual contributor right now.
